Back in June last year, we attended an event in Bristol hosted by the The Ecologist and The Schumacher Institute, called Small is the future. The event was a series or talks and workshops.

There were several brilliant panel talk discussing how to recalibrate our economies towards restorative ecologies and possible solutions to the most urgent economic and ecological challenges of our times. It was deep and informative and inspiring.

The residing thought coming away was that in this global economy, we need to look much closer to home and we need to look at how we connect more dots.

As a business and as individuals, we should stitch ourselves into our local, and by this term we mean, invest more time and energy in our local communities resulting in more positive local impact and as such stronger, more resilient communities.

Fast forward 12 months, and taking the idea very literally, perma rolled up its sleeves and supported the 65th Seend Fete, Liam’s principle community fundraiser.

Perma sponsored the event which helped contribute to the running costs. We used our production skills to help plan the event and our team (and their families) ran community stalls on the day.

The upkeep of the village assets cost approx £7,000 per year to maintain. The money raised through the Fete ensures these assets remain self-funded. It ensures the community and the surrounding areas have access to open green spaces, nature areas, sports pitches, hall spaces and all the clubs that use them.

The Fete brings 2000+ people together and remains a very traditional gathering. This years event was amazing and whilst it was a lot of work across the year, it was super rewarding process. By supporting this event, we are directly helping to bring our local community closer together.
